For an Australian documentary we are looking for witnesses, who know or remember anything about Auschwitz tattooist Ludwig (Lale, Lou, Lud) Eisenberg
“I am working on an Australian documentary that tells the story of one of the Auschwitz tattooists, Ludwig (Lale, Lou, Lud) Eisenberg who was from Slovakia. We worked closely with Ludwig up until his death in 2006 and are now working with his family to tell his story.
Ludwig arrived in Auschwitz on the 23rd April 1942 on the transport coming from Poprad. He became an assistant tattooist around June/July 1942 and remained in Auschwitz-Birkenau until the camp dissolved.
Ludwig was housed in his own room in the Gypsy Camp at Birkenau.
We would love to speak to anyone who can remember being tattooed. Who the person was? Nationality? Date? Number of tattooists in room? What Block you were tattooed in? He had a room in the gypsy camp. Anyone who can remember seeing Ludwig in the camp. Any information would assist us greatly in our research. Even written testimonies from survivors who unfortunately have passed away.
